Mickell Lowery for Shelby County Commissioner
Mickell is a District Sales Manager with FedEx and a leader in his organization. He has received many awards, including the FedEx Five Star Award which is awarded each year to the top two percent of employees as well as the FedEx Sales Ambassadors Award given to the top 10% of Sales leaders the corporation. Mickell has been with FedEx for 17 years and has held positions in Global Product Marketing, IT Strategy Management, and US Sales.
In addition to his professional life, Mickell is a strong supporter of our community. He is; one of the youngest members to serve on the Board of Trustees for LeMoyne-Owen College, a member of the Board of Directors for the Fire Museum of Memphis, Past-President of the Downtown Neighborhood Association and has been a youth football coach for 11 years; in the Collierville Youth Association, Bartlett Youth Association and Whitehaven Youth Association. Mickell truly believes in giving back to our community and volunteers his time despite not having a child or family member on any of his teams. He has been a youth mentor for Charjean Elementary and has helped to implement after school tutoring programs at Georgian Hills Elementary, Sheffield Elementary, Treadwell Middle School, and Kingsbury High School with A+ Learning Academy.
Mickell is a graduate of the Leadership Memphis Executive Class and is also a New Memphis Institute Fellow and Nexus Leadership programs. He is a former President and Vice President of the National Alumni Association of LeMoyne-Owen College. In addition, Mickell has been recognized by the Memphis Business Journal for the Top 40 Under 40 award; Ebony Magazine’s Top 30 under 30 award, Diversity MBA Magazine Top 100, and Memphis Crossroads Magazine for his extensive community service and professional accomplishments. Mickell serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Memphis Housing Authority and was also elected to the Democratic State Executive Committee in Senate District 29 with more than 12,000 votes. This year Mickell Lowery was elected to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners to represent District 8 which includes the areas of South Memphis, Downtown, Uptown, Central Gardens, and Frayser. Mickell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from LeMoyne-Owen College and Master’s Degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas. He is married to Chonisa Lowery and they have three daughters, Channise, Myla, and Milan.
